Mars lander shoots photos of my backyard

Looking at this Mars panorama, I'd swear that the lander had accidentally taken a photo of my backyard, which is usually grass-free, and almost entirely consists of Georgia's famous red clay.

This stuff is impenetrable. Once it's dried out, you're not digging a hole in it without gasoline-powered equipment.

Granted, my yard isn't nearly as large as, say, Mars, but it appears to have many of the same characteristics from a lawn-care perspective.
