I hate my Epson printer

Do a Google search on "Epson clogged".

105,000 results. Apparently, every Epson inkjet printer ever made clogs up with its own ink. It seems to be worse if you switch between high-resolution and low-resolution printing a lot.

In Mechanical Engineering, this is referred to as a "design flaw." If Epson made cars, there would be millions of people stranded on the road every day.

Sure, they're cheap printers. That doesn't justify them being completely unreliable.

i hate epson so much i just hired a web guy to build a site just for epson haters. hopefully i can get some of epson competitors to post some banners on my site, pay me a few bucks and help me get compensated for all the lost time and frustration with my 2200. i spent 200 sending it back to get it unclogged. forget their customer service, they are clueless. send me any ideas and i'll try to work it into the site.

eposon already has ihateepson.c om and .net parked. for good reason too.

I hate this product, is this what we can expect from Epson? I have the cx4600 and it is a piece of caca. I have spent hundreds of dollars in ink and this piece of shit and have only owned it since April of 2005.

I just got off the line with Epson support. I have a Epson Stylus Photo RX500 and I'm ready to throw it out the window.

The scanner hasn't worked for most of the time I've owned it. (over 2 years) Each time there is a Windows update the twain driver cannot be found. Epson scan doesn't launch even though the Smart Panel finds the machine. Epson has no fix and suggests I contact Microsoft to fix my problem. I have connected this machine to 4 other computers with the same results. I hate this Epson machine and will NEVER buy Epson!

I love my Epson printer!
I had about 4 now and now have a stylus photo 1290 which is an old model...but MAN does it produce nice pictures!
No way any of the competition comes even close to this quality.. Never had any probs with their printers either! Have you ever noticed the flimsy feel of other printers and the 'heavy/quality'feel of Epson?????

Posted by: Scaff at September 13, 2006 10:44 AM

scaff? what gives, are a member of epson board of directors or maybe you have a crapload of epson stock and you hope to support its price? The ink ordeal is epson kink and so many get traped and keep trying to rescue the printer that stops printing if you have any problem remember its epson. I am not buying another epson in my whole life.

HEY GUY'S I HATE EPSON TOO BUT I HAVE GOT A WAY TO GETOVER ON THEM !!!!! i BOUGHT THE CONTINUOUS INK SYSTEM.YOU DON'T HAVE TO REMOVE THE CARTRAGES AND WASTE INK AND CLOG THE HEADS DOING SO. I ALSO HAVE THE PROGRAM THAT RESETS THEIR SERVICE THE PRINTER SCAM. YOU SEND THE PRINTER IN AND IT COSTS YOU JUST AS MUCH TO SERVICE THE PRINTER AS IT DOES TO BUY ANOTHER ONE. THIS PROGRAM RESETS THE PRINTER.YOU ALSO NEED A WASTE INK BOTTLE TO REMOVE THE WASTE INK I HAVE USED THIS PRINTER FOR A YEAR WITH NO PROBLEMS UNTIL NOW. THEY THINK THEY ARE SLICK WITH THEIR WON'T RECOGNIZE THE CARTRAGE SCAM!!! BUT ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS PUT THE OLD CARTRAGES IN AND TAKE THEM BACK OUT TO RESET THE CRAP. HAVE YOU SEEN THE NEW PRINTERS THEY MAKE THEM SO YOU CAN'T USE THE BULK INK SYSTEM. I HAVE A R320 PHOTO STYLUS CRAP..

I hate my epson rx500! The photos don't turn out! It is completely random about remembering settings I've set.
The ink cartridge nightmare is beyond belief! It will not print if one color is on empty, even if i only want to print in black! And it goes through so much ink!!! And it is so horribly slow!!! Unbelievable. I will never buy Epson again. I miss my old printer. It wasn't a photo printer, and it printed the best photo's and made the best copies of photos.... yes, i too, am going to throw this printer out the window!

I bought an Epson Stylus Color 900 in 2001. It operated OK until 2005, when I bought an Epson black ink catridge from Staples. After loading that cartridge in, the printer produced sloppy, crappy printing. I tried cleaning countless times to no avail. It turns out that the print cartridge was contaminated. Epson warns that non-Epson ink could ruin the printer, but they never warned that their own ink cartridges could do the same. I wrote to Epson via certified mail to complain: no answer. You can't call, because they charge $30. They also make their service manuals impossible to obtain. I wish that Epson as a company would be fined by the state of California for consumer fraud; and I think its President, Board of Directors, and CEO should go to jail for robbing peoples' money on such crappy products and unethical attitude.

I quit buying epsons years ago. Obviously not because of print quality but because they are so damned undependable and quirky. My girlfriend bought a cx4900 recently and if the ink is low, I can't use the scan feature. You have GOT to be kidding. I have always had good luck with hp and will continue to buy them.

Dear Friends,

I hate my Epson R380. Uses way too much ink, too fast. I've spent a fortune on ink cartridges.

Is there a good photo printer you can recommend. Let's support a company that cares about it's customers more than lining it's own pockets!

Thanks for letting me rant!

I own a CX4200, I am ready to axe it. Got into an argument with a representative at Epson when I called to tell them that it wouldn't recognize ink cartridges I bought from Pacific Ink. He told me to speak to Pacific Ink. Of course, Pacific Ink's representative told me to call Epson...I will never buy another Epson product.

My daughter gave me an Epson Stylus C60 printer she wasn't using because a new one came free with her new computer. It absolutely will not print. Apparently the cause is that the ink cartridges are empty. I don't need to print color so I bought a new black ink cartridge (it has one for black and one for color) but it still won't print. Must I throw good money after bad and buy a new color cartridge also? I tried to get the old color cartridge refilled but none of the refilling machines can do this one. Does anyone have a clue or a solution?

Yes - same problem - they're absolutely crap - never ever buy one.

Epson pigment ink photo printers (R800 and higher) produce the best archival photo prints. UNFORTUNATELY they clog.

If you need in house, lab quality, archival photo printing, you need an Epson. To avoid the clogs, purchase the MaxPatchInk head cleaning kit. If you get a clogged nozzle pattern, try ONE cleaning. If that doesn't clear things up, apply the cleaning solution to the head parking station (the sponges) and wait a few hours, preferably overnight.

Epson needs to:

* Update their drivers to ONLY run a cleaning cycle on the head that needs cleaning. (This would really help users with printers that have one cart per color. You would only be flushing a few cents worth of ink rather than dollars worth per cleaning.)

* Add a cleaning cart to the system which keeps the head pads flush with cleaning solution so they don't freaking clog in the first place!

It just sucks that they won't fix this problem because their printers really produce great photos.

Sad, painful, infuriating. I have the Epson 2200, and yes when it is running it makes marvelous prints--that is the sad part, because everything else about this printer is really ANNOYING. It's a professional printer, so why do they treat us this way: putting just a little ink in a really expensive--and utterly non-environmental--cartridge, and a print head that clogs SO EASILY, requiring a cleaning cycle that dumps about half the ink out of ALL the cartridges. AND, my most recent experience, getting the clogged head pattern from the Nozzle Check, having the status monitor tell me there's ink in the cartridges, so cleaning cleaning cleaning, spewing ink, only to discover that the Staus Monitor was wrong, two cartridges were empty, and THAT'S why the nozzle check pattern was broken. So, another $50 of ink needlessly down the tubes. At this rate I get about three prints before running to buy more cartridges. I'm feeling embezelled, and wonder why any company would choose to alienate their customers in this way...

HATE, HATE, HATE EPSON!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER ONE AGAIN. I GUESS IT BACK TO HP FOR ME. MY CX5000 SUCKS INK LIKE A SHIPWRECKED SAILOR!! AND THE SCAM ABOUT HAVING TO HAVE COLORED INK TO PRINT IN BLACK - THERE SHOULD BE A LAW. AND, YES, I AM SHOUTING!!

Posted by: LELANDMOM at August 5, 2008 05:01 PM

I hate Epson products and will never buy from them
again. I own a EpsonCX4200 and have spent a fortune
on ink. I will not recognize the ink and yes, i have
cleaned the head. Tried everything. What a ripoff
Epson is.

I just tried to download drivers for my Epson Scanner (Current Model) and... Epson don't have them on their website.

I'd complain but there's no feedback form on their website.

I guess they know that they suck.

I used to sell Epson printers and I'd always cringe when the customer would buy one (against by repeated recommendation to go HP) because I knew it would come back at some stage.

I guess over the last decade there have been so many new customers that they can keep afloat even by annoying everyone they sell to. That won't last forever...

Epson sucks! I had two and both were useless after six months. One was preeviously replaced after 3 weeks and died five months later. I'll stick with Canon.

I got 6 years out of an S600 and currently own two IP 1700
whci are fine machines and very reasonably priced. I won't buy Epson again!

My epson DX4850 has been working with Cartex cartridges for a couple of years but this week-end it has suddenly changed the message window to state all the cartridges are un identified. I think we have allowed an upgrade in - but would the mighty Epson really send out upgrades that dis-able customer's printers just because we choose to pay a reasonable price for ink cartridges. The result is more likely that we will try a different company as a replacement. I was thinking of getting another Epson but not now. Any one had the same problem? What sorted it? Does refitting the old cartridges work?
